Stashmark Privacy Policy

Overview

Stashmark ("the App") is a Safari bookmark manager developed by XAppNova. This privacy policy explains how we handle your data. The short version: we don't collect any of it.

Data Collection

Stashmark stores all your bookmarks, categories, tags, and preferences locally on your device and optionally in your personal iCloud account. This data:

• Never leaves your device (except to your personal iCloud if enabled)
• Is not transmitted to XAppNova servers
• Is not shared with any third parties
• Remains entirely under your control

Data Storage

All app data is stored locally on your Mac. Your bookmarks, categories, and tags are protected by:

• Device Security: Protected by your Mac's security features (password, Touch ID)
• Local-Only Storage: Primary data stored in App Group container
• iCloud Sync: Optional sync via your personal iCloud account (controlled by you)
• Complete Deletion: All data is permanently deleted when you uninstall the app

What Data We Store Locally

The following information is stored on your device only:

• Saved bookmarks (URL, title, excerpt)
• Categories and folder structure
• Tags associated with bookmarks
• App preferences (theme, sort order)
• Favicon images (cached locally)

AI-Powered Features

Stashmark uses Apple's Natural Language framework for smart categorization and tag suggestions. This processing:

• Happens entirely on your device
• Uses no external AI services or APIs
• Sends no data to external servers
• Works completely offline

Safari Extension

The Stashmark Safari extension:

• Only activates when you click the toolbar button
• Reads only the current page URL and title (when you choose to save)
• Does not track your browsing history
• Does not inject scripts into web pages
• Does not access other browser data

Third-Party Services

Stashmark does not integrate with:

• Analytics services (no usage tracking)
• Advertising networks (no ads, ever)
• Social media platforms (no account required)
• External AI services (all processing is on-device)
• Crash reporting tools (no automatic crash data sent)

Permissions

Stashmark requests only the permissions necessary for its core functionality:

• Safari Extension: To save bookmarks from Safari
• Network (outgoing): For iCloud sync and favicon fetching
• Downloads folder: For export functionality

The app does not access your location, camera, microphone, contacts, or other personal information.

iCloud Sync

If you enable iCloud sync:

• Your bookmarks sync via Apple's CloudKit service
• Data is encrypted and protected by your Apple ID
• XAppNova cannot access your iCloud data
• Sync can be disabled at any time in Settings

Import & Export

Stashmark supports importing and exporting bookmarks:

• Import from JSON or HTML bookmark files
• Export to JSON format for backup
• All import/export happens locally on your device
• No data is uploaded to external servers

Children's Privacy

Stashmark does not knowingly collect any data from users of any age, including children under 13. Since we don't collect data at all, there is no data to protect or delete.

Your Rights

Since Stashmark does not collect or store any personal data on external servers, there is no data for you to request, modify, or delete from our systems. All your data exists solely on your device and iCloud account, under your complete control.

Data Security

Your bookmark data is secured by macOS and your device's built-in security features. We recommend:

• Using a strong Mac password
• Enabling FileVault disk encryption
• Keeping macOS updated to the latest version
• Using two-factor authentication for your Apple ID

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.

Stashmark's App Store listing displays a "Data Not Collected" privacy label, which accurately reflects our privacy-first approach.
