How do I start my first brew?

Launch BrewGuide, select a pre-loaded profile like "V60 Morning Brew," gather your equipment (dripper, filter, kettle, scale, coffee beans), then tap "Start Brewing." The timer will guide you through each step automatically.

Can I customize the default recipes?

Absolutely! Tap any profile, then tap "Edit" to adjust bloom time, pour intervals, water amounts, coffee ratios, and more. You can also duplicate profiles to experiment without losing the original.

How do I create a custom dripper profile?

From the profile list, tap the "+" button. Enter a name, select "Custom" as the dripper type, enter your custom dripper name, and configure all brewing parameters. Save when done.

Do I need an internet connection?

No! BrewGuide works completely offline. All profiles, recipes, and taste notes are stored locally on your device. No account or login required.

How do I add taste notes to a brew?

After completing a brewing session, you'll see an option to add taste notes. You can also access them anytime by opening a profile and tapping "Taste Notes."

Can I disable audio and haptic feedback?

Yes! Go to Settings and toggle "Sound Effects" and "Haptic Feedback" on or off according to your preference.

How do I switch between Celsius and Fahrenheit?

Go to Settings → "Preferred Temperature Unit" and select your preference. All temperatures throughout the app will update automatically.

What happens if I get a phone call during brewing?

The timer continues running in the background. When you return to the app, you'll see the current step and elapsed time.

Troubleshooting

The timer won't start or is frozen

Try force-closing the app and reopening it. On iPhone: swipe up from the bottom, find BrewGuide, swipe it away, then relaunch. If the issue persists, restart your device.

I don't hear audio cues

Check your device's volume and the mute switch. Also ensure "Sound Effects" is enabled in BrewGuide Settings. Audio may be disabled if your device is in silent mode.

My profiles disappeared after updating

This is rare but can happen during major iOS updates. Your data is stored locally—check if you have an iCloud backup to restore from. Contact support if you need assistance.

The app crashes on launch

First, ensure you're running iOS 17.0 or later. Then delete and reinstall the app. Note: This will erase your custom profiles unless you have an iCloud backup.

BrewGuide does not collect, transmit, or share any of your personal data. All brewing profiles, taste notes, and settings are stored locally on your device using Apple's secure SwiftData framework. Your data is included in your device's iCloud backup if you have that feature enabled.
